Scribblenauts

Everyone loves a good time consuming, low commitment, mobile game. Not everyone is into Pokemon, but Tetris and Bomberman get a bit old after 20 years. For those seeking a challenge, 5th Column brings you Scribblenauts.
This quirky game debuted at E3 2009 and won a few dark horse awards, but was easily overshadowed by Microsoft’s many announcements. It’s a DS exclusive that utilizes a pre-determined library of nouns that are accessed by typing them on the touch screen.
The player assumes the identity of Maxwell, a rooster-hat (there might me innuendo there) wearing kid who must solve puzzles for no real reason. There’s no story involved, just the clues towards solving the stages. Levels (consisting of 20 stages) are “purchased” with “ollars”, the currency gained by completing stages with various bonuses.
The challenge (if solving it the first time wasn’t enough) begins when you enter “Advanced Mode”, where Maxwell must solve each puzzle three times… without repeating any items. That’s where the real creativity comes into play, since most people can only think of a few ways to get a cat off a roof. Some are easy, allowing you many easy options, but some are surprisingly obscure. You will need to start digging into Advanced Mode to unlock the final level, but not much. The last level is where things get very interesting. No more "do this somehow" clues; you're given clues like "type the answer".
Of course, people have already written walkthroughs with multiple solutions for those really stuck, but don’t use them too quickly. If there are a few things that come in handy often, it’s: pterosaur, rope, jetpack, blackhole and maybe a gun of some kind. Sure, it may seem a bit shallow, but it can easily eat up a few hours for travel or on the loo. Pick it up after it drops a few ollars.
