Well, well, look what we have here. Robert finally got an iPhone. I'll admit that the curiousity has finally taken its toll on me. But if I'm going in, I'm going all in. Thanks to eBay, I now have a 16GB black iPhone 3G.

I'm not a total Apple fanboy yet, but the urge is getting stronger. The iPhone defintely does more than my previous phone (HTC 8525), but I don't consider this Promethean fire or anything. If anything, I just have something else I have to make sure I don't damage. You really need to take care of these things if you don't want any scratches, particularly with the 3G. My Belkin case does a pretty good job, but I need to get some full size screen film, not just onces that cover the touch area. By the way, leaving Wi-Fi on all day will completely drain you in a matter of hours, so I'm waiting to get my hands on a Mophie Juice Pack next month.

Here's a funny thing: I called AT&T to make sure that my "unlimited data" smart phone plan would be compatible and they said it is, but I would need to buy the phone from them so they could activate it. Seriously? What about all those people that buy iPhones from the Apple Store (and even Best Buy now)? They don't "need" to activate it for me. I take the SIM from my old phone and transplant it into my new phone. The iPhone reads it and looks for my carrier and gives it my number. Connected to iTunes, it took about a minute. I'm calling bullshit on AT&T for "needing" me to buy the phone from them. Someone wants commission, but you're not getting it from me.
